Population Check

We moved into our house in July 2006. I took this photo in September 2006.

I don’t think there are any official records available – but for my particular area, 2006 population of pigeons/hens was higher than human residents.

How things change in one year. Many more people have moved into their new homes…. bird flu helped too. I wish I could say the same about our neighbourhood’s rats! Their population always seems to be increasing.

Local Hardware Store

I don’t see these guys as much now.

I used them a couple of times and the prices were reasonable. I cleared the front of our house and needed a compactor (the thing the beats the sand into a hard surface). I paid 4KD for an hour including delivery!

Finally…. Some shade!

Today was very hot indeed. Clear skies and the unforgiving sun gave us temperatures well into the high forties! These guys were working until about 10 minutes before this photo was taken. They were resting on a roundabout under the shade of the trees (yes it makes a hell of a difference – excuse the pun).
The reason I am posting this particular photo is because I realised that I’ve been looking at the progress of the buildings and houses but not at the people achieving these fantastic results.

Today is a truning point for this blog – I will focus on the builders as well as the town, and will bring you some of their stories if they allow me to share them.
