Mosque Update

November 3, 2010

I’m sure you’ve noticed the many mosques in Mangaf.  We’ve also been hearing most of them.  At least three are still under construction: two new and one under renovation.  These are images of these particular mosques for later comparison.

Masyid Al Mnaies

March 28, 2010

When we moved in a few years ago, this mosque was the only functioning establishment near our house.  The petrol stations was under construction, and most houses were empty.  According to the sign, it was built in 1993.  I can only imagine what this place would have looked like then!

I’m not sure what the plan is… These photos were taken two weeks ago.  Today, the demolition seems to have stopped halfway – keeping part of the building intact.  They’ve started digging for the new foundations.

Interesting Looking Mosque

I’m not 100% certain but this does look like a mosque.  It’s next to the shops and Orjowan Kindergarten.  Looks like it will be an interesting shape.

This time last year

It’s nice to go back to positive posts rather than the recent grumpy ones… Sorry about those!

It feels like it was only a few weeks ago when I took the top-left photo of the building site. At that stage, the main structure had just been completed. I had planned to do this all along, so I took the photos from exactly the same point.

I noticed yesterday that the first photo was taken exactly one year ago – so it felt appropriate to write this post today.

The dates were as follows:

First 12 05 2007
Second 14 11 2007
Third 19 01 2008
Fourth 08 05 2008
