    nice website.
    thanks for the good effort.

  2. Bu Yousef Says:

You’re most welcome Ahmed. Thank you for visiting.

Please tell your friends/neighbours. If there are any stories they want to share about the area, this is the place.

    Thanks again :)

    What a great idea. :)

I have a question. There’s a house near the new British nursery. It looks like it caved in and the roof collapsed all the way down to the ground level. Anyone have any news about what happened to that house?

  5. Bu Yousef Says:

    Sounds awful… Unless they’re re-building?

I’m traveling now… Will have a look when I return.
    Where is the British Nursery?

    Anyone else know anything?

  6. Stinni Says:

It’s hard to describe where anything is in this area of Mangaf because of the lack of streets. I’ll try to take a picture of it tomorrow.

  7. Bu Yousef Says:

You’re right. Having anything delivered to our house is a nightmare.

    Looking forward to the photos.

  8. Anonymous Says:

I live on Street 116 in Mangaf can anyone please tell me the correct block #. Like you said it is a nightmare getting any thing delivered. My landlord told me this was block 7. Delivery people keep telling there is no block 7 in Mangaf. Please help

  9. Bu Yousef Says:

    You’re lucky you have a street :)

There is no block 7. There are 5 in total and the Hilton is block 5. So you are in one of four. Use the block diagram on each of the main roads to work out which one you’re in. The red arrow shows you where you are at that point in comparison to the area’s blocks.

  11. Bu Yousef Says:

    Alberto,

Good luck with your move. I hope it’s a successful one.

Your accomodation depends on your needs. If you’re a family and need a villa, Mangaf offers good value for money. Where you work will also matter – and if I’m guessing right that it’s the Hilton, then you’re in the righ area.

Apartments – if you’re alone or a small family – are plenty. I prefer apartment buildings in neighbouring Abu Halifa, Mahboula and Fintas. All are within a 10-minute drive from the Hilton.

I will let others advise you too. Mine would be to come to Kuwait and spend a few days looking around before deciding.

    Hope this helps.

I heard that the house that collapsed did so because it was a prefab type house and the people knocked down a supporting wall to make the room bigger. I don’t know about what happened to the folks, but I heard that they were home and there were ambulances.

  13. Bu Yousef Says:

That’s awful… Even cowboy builders should know that ALL MASAKIN HOUSES USE PREFAB.

    I hope they were ok.

  14. Akbar Says:

    Hi Bu Yousef,

Did you check out all the villas draped in huge 10meter flages in Block 1 and Block 5? There is one on the way from costal road towards Al-Jawahara on your right, 100 meters after the new Mosque. Also there is one in Block five opposite Hilton, it has lights up at night and looks cool. Maybe you can add the photos?

    Regards,

    Akbar

Funny to notice this but, Why not have the latest comments on top? Usually its descending order. People will look at the first comment and might assume this page is not updated since the first comment! Happy belated fun foam days!

  16. Bu Yousef Says:

I will try Akbar – but no promises… Enjoying my last day off before a very busy time at work. Thank you.

Regarding the notices, YES. My plan is to make this page into an actual forum instead of its current state as a comments box. That way different subjects can be discussed simultaneously. Once I get some time I will read up on it and attempt to do it. Any advice?

  17. Bu Yousef Says:

    Done…
Thank you Akbar. Appreciate your advice.

  19. Anjery Says:

First of all, I’d like to thank “classic” for linking this website, from the forum “http://www.topdark.com/vb/”

Second of all, this seems a great DIWANIYA, and I honestly did’t think we’d have one but we do, so keep this great work up, I’ll try to help as much as I can because I have just been here for a couple months ago.

  20. Bu Yousef Says:

Thank you classic and Anjery – for the link and the nice words.

    Most welcome – always.

  21. DMA Says:

    Hello,
Thanks for your effort, I really like your web and blog, good luck.

I’m making a personal mini guide of places to visit in kuwait, and I’m gonna take my cousins on tour for fun, we’re so bored of the malls, cinemas, and restaurants, and I thought of doing something new and exploring kuwait for a change instead of repeating the same old where to go routine.

Do you have any recommendations in mangaf or places near it ?

other than Al-Kout, Al-Manshar, The coastal restaurants, Oqaila beach and mini golf, and Hilton resorts :) ?

  22. Bu Yousef Says:

    Hi there…

Nice idea. Not sure what to recommend. There isn’t much really! Near Al Manshar, the old market is small but ok. The hardware stores on the main road are fun. Other than that, I recommend a visit to the mini-farm near the Gas branch. I posted about it last year:

    http://mangaf.net/2008/09/24/did-you-know/

    Hope it’s still there.

Good luck – and please send us the links when you’re done.

  23. DMA Says:

    the mini farm looks nice.
I love hardware stores, can you please provide the directions.

well the guide as I said is personal, but if it turns out to be a fun trip I’ll try to publish it.
I hope a few only knows about the places because it’s not gonna be a new thing to do if they already knew :) .

    Thanks a million.

  24. Classic Says:

  25. Bu Yousef Says:

    I know… It’s great!

I have been taking photos of the various changes. We had some bad news and I’ve been busy with the family…

Will post a few catch-up posts after Eid in shaa Allah.
