Did You Know?

September 24, 2008

Some time ago, I was shopping at the vegetables shop on 101. They had run out of mint and he suggested I go to the farm.  When I realised he wasn’t being sarcastic, I asked him for directions. He directed me to what is now block 3… I arrived in a small oasis that felt far away from anything to do with Kuwait. It looked like somewhere in Wafra. Even the traffic noise disappeared.

I went there again today to get a few photographs.  Hajji Haider and Mohammad Sadiq from Shiraz were very happy to be part of this little adventure.

Update 300908:  I’ve had two emails asking for directions…
Keep the fire station to the right and take the first right after the water tanker station… It’s on your left after about 800 metres… You will need to do a U-turn and go over the sand to enter.

What’s the oldest building in Mangaf?

September 24, 2008

Every day, a new house/building/shop becomes the newest in Mangaf.

What I want to know is who has been here the longest?  What is the oldest building in Mangaf?  I found this old house in Block-3.  I think it’s still being used as storage for a catering company.

Below are 3 links of photos taken by intlexpatr and posted last year.  Those who live here will already notice the differences.  I will post some of the huge building site near my house when I return to Kuwait.
